Temporary Human Resources Assistant
The County of Santa Barbara’s Behavioral Wellness Department is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Extra Help/Temporary Human Resources Assistant to support a variety of human resources functions. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with HR experience or graduating seniors who are looking to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on community wellness and mental health.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Assisting with the recruitment and onboarding process
- Processing HR documentation and maintaining employee records
- Responding to employee inquiries related to benefits, leaves, and HR policies
- Supporting HR staff with data entry, reporting, and file management
- Coordinating meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining confidential files
- Performing other clerical and administrative HR tasks as assigned
Employment Standards:
To be considered, applicants must meet one of the following employment standards:
- Three years of office professional or clerical experience, preferably in a human resources department, two of which were at the journey level
- OR an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience in a public sector HR environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR information systems
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
