The Sustainable Investments (SI) Program is looking for an Investment Officer III to join a dynamic crew!
Under the direction of the Investment Manager (IM) and Associate Investment Manager (AIM), the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Analytics Specialist (Investment Officer III) will play a key role in the development and deployment of ESG analytics and will contribute to SI’s investment advisory function across public asset classes.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Designing, developing, and deploying CaPERS’ Sustainable Investments dashboard that identifies and quantifies material ESG risks in the CalPERS portfolio. The dashboard provides real-time updates on key performance indicators (KPIs) that track progress toward strategic sustainability objectives, such as the $100 billion climate solutions investment commitment.
- Leading the curation and dissemination to internal investors, across asset classes, of external investment research, with a focus on impactful research relevant our climate-themed investing activity.
- Supporting the due diligence, selection, and monitoring of active management strategies in collaboration with public equity and fixed income teams, including quantitative analysis and drafting investment committee recommendations.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Over 5 years of experience in ESG integration within a financial institution or similar organization, with demonstrated expertise of materiality important Environmental, Social, and Governance factors across sectors.
- Proven ability to collaborate with investment professionals to implement ESG processes, leveraging technical expertise and influence to drive ESG adoption across the organization and with investment partners.
- In-depth knowledge of ESG frameworks, international guidelines, and sustainability reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD), with active engagement in ESG industry networks and associations.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of translating complex ESG data into actionable insights for investment decisions, with experience working with public market data providers on ESG analytics.
- Experience with both debt and equity asset classes.
