Assistant Project Designer
Dynamic, boutique public affairs firm providing outreach and engagement on some of the largest and most exciting public infrastructure projects in the region is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager. The ideal candidate is passionate about public outreach and engagement and one or all of the following: urban design, graphic design, urban planning, public engagement and outreach, environmental sustainability, community development and plans, marketing, administration, communications and transformation of urban settings.
Candidate must be outgoing, flexible (willing to work evenings and weekends when needed), organized, attentive to detail, a strong writer, proficient in Microsoft Office & Google Suite, and social media savvy.
What you’d expect:
- Support all aspects of public engagement and community outreach, including the development and implementation of outreach programs related to environmental documentation under CEQA and NEPA.
- Assist with the firm’s day-to-day business development and marketing efforts, including responding to Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), updating TRG’s qualifications materials, and tracking Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Perform administrative tasks such as tracking project insurance, processing invoices, ensuring timely vendor payments, and conducting monthly QC/QA of project billing and invoicing.
- Develop and maintain contact databases, track project deliverables and comments, and support document management.
- Create and distribute outreach collateral and notification materials. Experience with email and web marketing platforms is a plus.
- Coordinate logistics for public hearings and community meetings, including planning, staffing, and documenting outreach activities.
- Provide daily support to Project Managers by tracking deliverables, maintaining project schedules, and managing databases of contacts and public comments.
- Facilitate outreach activities by documenting engagement efforts and capturing public feedback to inform project decisions.
- Ensure smooth execution of outreach events by coordinating logistics, preparing materials, and supporting onsite needs.
- Implement outreach programs aligned with CEQA/NEPA requirements, including organizing and supporting public meetings and events.
- Collaborate within a small, motivated team to design and execute innovative outreach strategies for transformative public projects across the Los Angeles region.

- Strong interest in public participation, public policy, and government processes, particularly those related to CEQA/NEPA, public affairs, and community relations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative team setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, multitask effectively, and adapt to dynamic project needs.
- Comfortable facilitating and staffing community meetings, including on-the-go outreach; must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and access to a personal vehicle for transporting event materials.
- Experience or interest in social media and design platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, Canva, WordPress, or Drupal is highly desired.
- Flexibility for remote, in-person, or hybrid work arrangements.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in one or more of the following or related fields:

Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of urban planning concepts, CEQA/NEPA processes, and public engagement strategies.
- Interested in developing innovative ways of advancing public participation in pivotal projects within the Southern California region.
Salary:
Salary will be commensurate with experience and academic qualifications. Salary range $50,000-72,000. Excellent employer paid medical benefits including dental, paid vacation and traditional holidays.
