Energy Coordinator

Position Information

Examination Schedule:
Oral Exam: If an oral exam is merited, qualified candidates will be notified five business days prior to the examination

Examinations:

Appraisal: (Weighted 100%) will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam, and rating of the application. 


Should an oral exam be necessary, the oral exam will be weighted 100%. The Human Resources Division may limit the number advancing to the oral exam to approximately the top 15.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on the examination.

Employment Standards:

 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or closely related field AND three (3) years of recent experience in the utility field or conducting administrative and budget analysis for a multi-facility budget unit.  Experience with emphasis on energy purchasing or utility deregulation is desirable. 

A Masters' degree in Engineering, Business or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business or closely related field AND five (5) years of recent experience as described above. Experience with an emphasis on energy purchasing or utility deregulation is desirable.

Additional Requirements:

During the 12-month probationary period, the incumbent must attend a minimum of 5 formal energy management training sessions sponsored by utility organizations that contract with the County of Kern.  

Training sessions/topics must be approved by the Chief General Services Officer as applicable to the position.  Failure to satisfy the formal training requirements may result in termination from the position.

Additional Information

Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.

 

A background check may be conducted for this classification.


Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
