Return to Work Analyst

This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule. The physical reporting location for this position is near Folsom Lake, and is close to historic Folsom, eateries, shopping, walking trails, and offers free parking! This position is not located inside a prison.

Under the direction of the Return-to-Work Manager, Staff Services Manager I (SSMI) the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA), Return-to-Work Coordinator (RTWC) independently manages assigned cases for California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) Workers' Compensation (WC) through the State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF), FMLA/CFRA, Reasonable Accommodation (RA), and Ergonomics Programs for their assigned roster/caseload. Will correspond with internal and external stakeholders and control agencies on behalf of CALPIA. Provides assistance to supervisors in medical management processes and makes recommendations for medical-related personnel actions. The Return-to-Work Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the utmost confidentiality of all personnel and medical management (MM) information.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in state civil service Worker's Compensation (WC) case management
  • Experience assessing eligibility and making determinations related to WC, FMLA/CFRA, Ergonomics, Reasonable Accommodations
  • Knowledge and experience in presenting medical management recommendations to management
  • Experience reviewing governing regulations and operational needs to update or create policies and procedures
  • Experience obtaining and reviewing Department of Justice/FBI Livescan results for pre-employment background processing
  • Experience with state civil service control agencies and governing mandates, i.e., State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF), CalHR, Office of Civil Rights (OCR), State Controller's Office (SCO), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), etc.
  • Knowledge of Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Healthier U or other employee wellness programs
