The Office of Compliance supports CDPH by overseeing a broad range of accountability and oversight functions. These include conducting internal and external audits, performing grant compliance reviews of CDPH subrecipients, managing risk and compliance activities, and investigating allegations related to whistleblower complaints, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. The OOC also administers the department's Equal Employment Opportunity and Workplace Violence Prevention programs.

The candidate reports to the Deputy Director and Chief Audit Executive (DD, CAE) of the Office of Compliance and serves in the capacity of Assistant Deputy Director and Branch Chief. In this role, the incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a comprehensive internal audit program that spans multiple programs administered by CDPH, including those involving subrecipients of federal and state public health funding. This position may require up to 10% travel throughout California to carry out essential duties.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH’s Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.
Travel may be required for this position. Reimbursement for travel takes into consideration an employee’s designated headquarters, as reflected in the duty statement, and is subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

- Strong knowledge of professional audit standards (e.g., IIA, GAGAS) and California and federal auditing authorities and guidelines.
- In-depth understanding of CDPH program operations and the ability to research and apply state and federal regulations and funding requirements.

- Experience in managing and directing the work of subordinate managers.
