Water Quality Engineering Intern (Paid)

Come get your “feet wet” at Zone 7 Water Agency!  Gain valuable work experience with an exciting paid Intern opportunity supporting our Water Quality Engineering Section!

SALARY:  $28.13 - $34.16 Hourly 

THE AGENCY:  Zone 7 supplies treated drinking water to retailers serving over a quarter million people in the Tri-Valley area including the cities of Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin and, through special agreement with the Dublin San Ramon Services District, to the Dougherty Valley area. Additionally, we supply untreated water directly to agricultural businesses for irrigation of 3,500 acres, primarily South Livermore Valley vineyards. We also maintain 37 miles of local flood-protection channels; about a third of all the Valley’s channels and creeks.

 

DUTIES:  This full-time paid summer intern assignment, approximately late May to mid-to-late September depending on the school schedule, will support the agency’s Water Quality Engineering section by assisting with projects and tasks such as:

  • Conduct water quality studies and conducting water quality analyses 
  • Evaluate treatment performance and analyzing data
  • Mange databases and maintaining records
  • Prepare documents such as drawings, reports, technical memorandums, and standard operating procedures

 

Clear training and objectives will be provided to develop skills for potential career opportunities in the water utility industry. Interns will gain valuable knowledge and practical experience in drinking water regulations and compliance; water quality regulations and compliance; water treatment processes and performance evaluation; data analysis and database management; technical writing and documentation; and more

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Current enrollment or recent graduation (within last year) from a college or university, and successful completion of the equivalent of 30 semester (45 quarter) units of classwork 
  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
  • Ability to work in the field and office as needed
