This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by providing supervisory and administrative oversight of campus-wide security, safety, and emergency preparedness programs at the Richmond Laboratory Campus. The incumbent performs full supervisory responsibilities, including staff selection, training, performance management, and workload direction. The incumbent also performs complex and critical duties centered on campus security and emergency preparedness for the Richmond Laboratory Campus.
Under the general direction of the Manager II, Section Chief of Facilities Management Services (FMS), the Supervisor I provides programmatic leadership to ensure the effective implementation of security operations, life-safety systems, emergency preparedness, safety compliance, and related contractual services. The position ensures compliance with applicable state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and departmental policies governing workplace safety, hazardous materials, emergency response, and facility security, and serves as a liaison with internal programs and external oversight agencies. The incumbent supports an inclusive and equitable approach to safety and emergency management by promoting accessible policies, training, and communications.
In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
