About the Role
TBD Investors is seeking a Business Operations Intern to support operational, strategic, and growth initiatives across our portfolio companies.
This role is ideal for a student who is analytical, organized, curious, and excited to work directly on real business problems. Interns may help portfolio companies improve processes, analyze performance, support expansion projects, conduct market research, build simple operating dashboards, and assist CEOs and operating teams with high-priority initiatives.
The work will vary by portfolio company, but the goal is the same: help growing businesses become better, faster, and more disciplined.
Responsibilities
The Business Operations Intern may support projects such as:
Conducting market, competitor, and industry research
Supporting operational improvement projects across portfolio companies
Helping build or update simple dashboards, trackers, and performance reports
Analyzing customer, revenue, location, staffing, or marketing data
Supporting new location, market expansion, or growth initiatives
Helping document and improve internal processes
Assisting with recruiting, onboarding, training, or people operations projects
Preparing short memos, presentations, and analysis for company leaders
Supporting vendor, customer, or partnership research
Helping portfolio company leaders identify problems, test solutions, and track progress
Working on special projects for CEOs, operators, and TBD Investors team members
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
Analytical, practical, and comfortable solving open-ended problems
A strong communicator with clear writing skills
Organized and able to manage multiple projects at once
Comfortable working in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments
Interested in business operations, growth, private equity, healthcare, entrepreneurship, or entrepreneurship through acquisition
Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides, Google Docs, and basic research tools
Willing to take initiative, ask good questions, and improve based on feedback
Excited by real company-building work rather than purely theoretical assignments
Prior experience in consulting, finance, startups, healthcare, marketing, analytics, or operations is helpful but not required. We care more about judgment, work ethic, curiosity, and the ability to get things done.
