Coding & Robotics Instructor

Location: Newark, CA
Program: After-School Coding & Robotics Enrichment
Age Group: Elementary Students
Job Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Weekday afternoons
Compensation: $45–$65 per session, depending on experience
Work Location: In person

About the Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and engaging STEM Instructor to lead a two-week after-school Coding & Robotics program in Newark, CA.

Students will explore foundational coding, robotics, engineering, and computational thinking through hands-on projects and beginner-friendly challenges. This is a great opportunity for educators, college students, STEM professionals, and technology enthusiasts who enjoy working with young learners and making STEM approachable and fun.

Curriculum and lesson materials are provided.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging coding and robotics lessons using provided curriculum.
  • Guide students through hands-on building, programming, and robotics activities.
  • Introduce coding, engineering, and problem-solving concepts in an age-appropriate way.
  • Encourage creativity, collaboration, experimentation, and critical thinking.
  • Prepare and organize materials before each session.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and program coordinators.
  • Submit a brief after-class update following each session.

Requirements

  • Experience working with elementary-aged students or similar age groups.
  • Experience teaching or facilitating coding, robotics, STEM, or technology-based activities.
  • Applicant must reside in Newark or within 20 miles of Newark.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Reliable, organized, punctual, and professional.
  • Must maintain clear, timely, and professional communication with the program team.
  • Required to submit a brief after-class update following each session.
  • Must be available for the full two-week program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in computer science, engineering, STEM, education, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with educational robotics kits and beginner-friendly coding platforms.
  • Experience with project-based or hands-on STEM learning.
  • Experience leading after-school, camp, or youth enrichment programs.
