Construction Project Engineer

The Position

CFW Inc is currently looking to hire Construction Project Engineers for California K-12 public school projects. The Project Engineer assists the Program Managers and Assistant Program Managers in the development and coordination of all project documentation, including but not limited to project procurement, scheduling, cost controls and client management of an assigned project. This position assists and monitors the documentation required for the implementation, execution and timely completion of a project. The role informs all assigned Program Managers on project status, progress, and potential increases to costs and schedule. This position maintains a high degree of knowledge of their project plans, specifications, budget and schedule. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Planning Associate are as follows:

  • Prepares and is responsible for all administrative tasks as required for the assigned projects.
  • Assembles, distributes, and tracks document packages through the life of the project.
  • Assists in research for prime contract change orders, and subcontract change orders.
  • Updates and maintains project files on the company server, the project management software and other platforms as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of RFQ/RFP documentation for the procurement of design, construction and professional service firms.
  • Maintains communication with the design and construction team.
  • Coordinates and assists with scheduling of assigned professional services providers.
  • Intakes project team RFIs, submittals, submission requests, change proposals, and change orders.
  • Administers the pay application submission and review process.
  • Prepares and/or assists in the billing process and procurement of payment from the client with oversight from Program Manager.
  • Prepares weekly updates to clients regarding project status.
  • Reviews and maintains overall project budget and prepares a monthly report analyzing costs.
  • Reads and understands the plans and specifications of assigned projects.
  • Keep supervisors informed of potential project delays and increased costs reported by the project team.
  • Assists project team in the process of the project closeout per the established company procedure.
  • Provides complex critical thinking skills to resolve design, construction, budgetary, and schedule related issues.

Skills required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience in California public school K-12 or higher education projects.
  • Strong familiarity with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, & Scheduling software.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Deadline and detail oriented.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and is insurable.
  • Must be willing and able to travel for prolonged periods of time to project assignments.
