Accounting - Entry Level
OPT WELCOME. H1B Sponsorship possible. This is an exciting opportunity to learn the basics of accounting, tax compliance and consulting while working in a CPA firm. The goals of the program are to have you master the basics of the accounting profession and provide you the valuable experience all employers seek. These positions can be part-time or full time, depending on the applicant's qualifications.
We will provide the successful applicant with intensive training on Drake tax compliance software. The training will include, but not be limited to, how to properly set up clients in the application, understand the input variables and the implication of completing the input fields.
In addition, the successful applicant will be provided at least 40 hours of formal federal and California tax training, structured professional training on QuickBooks, and be introduced to international consulting assignments. The Intern will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned by mirroring the work of a CPA. The emphasis of this internship is training with real world experience.
A typical day will include reading/viewing training materials (one to two hours), applying the learning to sample clients with the help of the Supervisor (one to two hours), and working directly with the Supervisor to learn other tasks relating to working as a CPA.
Strong performing Interns may have the opportunity to work directly with real clients, under CPA supervision on engagements such as tax return preparation, consulting and international business development.
At the end of the Internship the Intern should have mastered the tax and accounting software and be a reliable and valuable resource to an accounting firm.
The Intern will report directly to the Owner, who is a CPA/MBA
Learning Outcomes
Candidate will have the ability to qualify prospective clients as firm appropriate, identify tax issues, setup and organize client tax files, prepare computer assisted tax returns, perform quality checks.

Description Of Tasks
Onsite training of tax regulations and compliance issues. Participate in client acceptance procedures. File setup and source document organization. Data entry of tax source information. Tax return review and cross reference to to source documents. Group project on practice development.
