AIR RESOURCES TECHNICIAN II
This position can be located in Sacramento or Riverside County.
The Incentives and Technology Advancement Branch invites applicants to join a friendly and energetic team of professional staff designing and implementing programs to help achieve California's ambitious air quality, climate, and environmental justice goals. We are responsible for implementing the Carl Moyer Program, which funds cleaner-than-required heavy-duty vehicles and equipment that clean up older, high-emitting engines, equipment, and vehicles through grants for replacement, repower, retirement, and retrofit projects administered through local air districts.
Activities may include gathering, computing and analyzing data on various incentive and regulatory programs; providing liaison assistance to local air districts; supporting project reporting by air districts to branch databases and responding to helpline inquiries; recording and tracking grants and incentive-funded vehicles and equipment; assisting with grant cycle requirements and paperwork including the processing of solicitations, applications and disbursement requests; and use of spreadsheets, databases, and technical information to summarize grant fiscal status, evaluate projects and implement guideline requirements. Other duties may include research assistance to management, specialists and engineers for program reports; preparation of issue papers, presentations, summaries and documentation related to program activities; participating in internal meetings, organizing and supporting public meetings and workshops involving air districts, community representatives, environmental groups, businesses, and other organizations; and assisting with review of air district mobile source incentive grant programs. The selected candidate will serve in a paraprofessional role, under supervision of a manager and in coordination with other ARB staff. Limited travel may be necessary to fulfill all duties.

Working Conditions
This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required.?
Beginning July 1st, 2025, per Executive Order N-22-25, CARB employees will be required to report into office four days a week.
The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.
