Staff Services Analyst

This position will be located in Sacramento County.

If your answer is yes, then we welcome you to join the Office of Environmental Justice, Tribal Affairs, and Border Relations (OEJTB) as a Staff Services Analyst (SSA).
 

OEJTB is part of the Environmental Justice and Equity Branch in CARB's Executive Office. OEJTB works at all levels within the organization and externally to meaningfully engage and address environmental injustices in the achievement of its mission. OEJTB serves as a catalyst and resource for CARB to meaningfully engage with community and address air quality concerns statewide. OEJTB ensures CARB promotes environmental justice and equity in the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures. OEJTB's priorities are informed by the Board, executive leadership, and meaningful engagement with community members and community-based organizations, particularly those disproportionately impacted by poor air quality. To achieve its goals, OEJTB partners with other federal, state, and local agencies as well as ensures collaboration across CARB so the most disadvantaged communities benefit equitably from CARB programs.

 

OEJTB is seeking a proactive, self-motivated, driven, engaging, creative, and enthusiastic SSA who will support all aspects of the office's work, from the planning and execution of public meetings, review of public-facing policy communication documents, scheduling and preparation of high-level internal meetings, and more. We are looking for a candidate who is eager to work in a fast-paced environment and can manage several projects simultaneously while providing high quality administrative support on time sensitive assignments.

 

The most successful candidate will have robust time management skills and a deep knowledge of business tools such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. The ideal candidate will also have a strong passion for promoting racial equity and environmental justice in state programs, demonstrate a collaborative approach, excel in creative problem-solving, and have exceptional communication skills.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required. 

Beginning July 1st, 2025, per Executive Order N-22-25, CARB employees will be required to report into office four days a week.

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense, as indicated on their duty statement.

  • Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods.
  • Standard office environment (artificial lighting, controlled temperature, etc.)  
  • Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and/or telephone.
